There are several reasons to be excited about this show and now we “officially” know that Treasure Island favs Thee Oh Sees will be joining Mikal Cronin and Total ControlatThe New Parish in Oakland October 27th. Another huge reason: you can pick up a new Oh Sees/Total Control 12″ split from the bands before they head out on their national tour. I didn’t grab one in time at the Drambuie Presents show last week and was super bummed, but apparently you can order from the Castle Face label directly online. They are also stocking the rest of the CF releases online, so if you haven’t had a chance to pick up the Blasted Canyons LP (you should), now you can.
We’re also giving away more free tickets. E-mail us your first and last name at pdgiveaway at gmail dot com with Total Control in the headline for your chance to win 2 tickets to the New Parish show. Winner will be picked ASAP. Good luck!
You’ll have to RSVP over on Eventbrite here. It’s an early set too - Oh Sees go on at 8pm with a DJ set before by Mikey from Total Control(who will be joining John Dwyer and co. on their upcoming tour and also Mikal Cronin@The New Parish 10/27). The party starts at 6pm and is co-hosted by Drambuie. 21+
Pretty excited for this one - on the heels of his excellent debut LP, Mikal Croninis playing at The New Parish Thursday October 27th w/ Aussie rockers Total Control and a “super secret” guest that should warm thee hearts of readers of this blog. Tickets are on sale now. Listen to “Apathy,” one of the stunningly-good tracks from his debut, below. Read an eyewitness account of how Mikal saved his recent Cleveland show from some douchebag Satanists here. Just as we did with the Ty Segall + Nobunny show at Brick and Mortar, we’re giving away a pair of free tickets to Thursday’s show - email us at [email protected] with your first and last name and “Cronin” in the subject line and we’ll select a random winner ASAP.
Here’s an epic, nearly 10-minute long cut from a new 12″ by Aussie punkers Eddy Current Suppression Ring, released on Captcha. Mikey’s other project, Total Control, plays with Mikal Cronin and a “special guest” at The New Parish 10/27 — get tickets here.
Here’s the weirdly-hypnotic, 6-minute opening cut of Carrion Crawler/The Dream - the band’s second full-length this year - out November 15th on In the Red. Thee Oh Sees play Sunday October 16th @ Treasure Island Music Fest, tickets still available here.
We’re aware of Australia’s epic outpouring of quality bands right now and have been waiting a minute to see some gigs here in California. Finally we get that chance. Total Control is supporting Thee Oh Sees on their four-month epic tour including a stop @ Verdi Club 12/4 with BRONZE. Here’s a noisy jam off the synth-punk duo’s debut full-length Henge Beats, out now on Iron Lung. Pick that up here. [via]
