By now we know that the Fresh & Only’s forthcoming record will be released on Mexican Summer (current and former label-mates include Part Time, The Mantles, and others). Here’s a glimpse of the new record in the form of an outtake — though the track will not appear on the new LP, we think it’s a pretty solid tune that has us incredibly psyched for the band’s follow-up to Play it Strange.

The Fresh and Onlys @ The New Parish
The Fresh and Onlys are reigning in 2012 with a New Year’s Eve show at Brick and Mortar Music Hall with White Fence and a TBA act. Tickets are on sale now. In our interview with Shayde Sartin, he mentioned that the F&O wouldn’t be playing any shows until around New Years so the timing makes sense. According to the concert poster, the secret guest will be announced December 5th — which coincides with the day after another major Bay Area act/frequent surprise “guest” plays a homecoming show. RSVP over on the Facebook event page.

After releasing the eminently enjoyable Play it Strange LP back in 2010, Amoeba‘s famously prolific employees Tim Cohen and Shayde Sartin of The Fresh and Onlys brought their listeners to a lowered state with this year’s EP release Secret Walls back in April. Apart from contributions of two previously-unreleased tracks for the Castle Face Flexi Disc Book, the band recently released a new 7″ single via British DIY label SEXBEAT. ”I Would Not Know the Devil” was debuted shortly before the group left for a one-month long European tour. We caught up with Shayde for an update as the F&O wrap up their face-melting jaunt across the old continent.
